BLESSINGS

Many people, like myself, always try to use the Lenten and Easter season as a time of reflection and to get closer to the Lord. Let us not forget that he died for our sins and preaches for us to love God and each other. Thank you Lord for all you have done and I anxiously await your spirit's descent unto the earth once more. So on this day, I pass on to you Blessings from Our Heavenly Father.

B -Begin your day with

L - Love in your heart
E - Expect blessings
S - Share goodness
S - Shine like the sun
I - Inspire someone
N - Never forget that
G - God is with you at all times

Much Love,
Nella

Treasure

By: Dale Copeland

I beg thee a kiss my fair lady

Sweet like sweets bound by bliss

Tonight our bodies eclipse
Just grab my finger tips
An eternal love we shall grab with bare fists
My want of ascending
Has my lips climbing to the top
Transcending...vocabulary unknown to my nature
My oh my, will thou my dearest not be mine?
Live for me and Me for thee
For we shall mount peaks of involvement
Racing allow contours of enchantment
Just a moment in time
Thats all I hanker
As I await you essence, your presence
I await you treasure

Here is another amazing poem from my friend Dale. Enjoy my loves!

Much Love and a Happy Good Friday,

Nella

The Exchange

By: Dale Copeland

The need for your body against mine
Sends my nerves on a rollercoaster ride
Wild are now the thoughts I call my own
Jumping fictional scenes that my heart bestowed
The ultimatum...Your soft texture beneath my rough
 Your heart between my fingers
If you hand it over, Ill never let it go
Thy love and my love would mingle
Think of the beauty they would make
Think of...me stopping rain
Rain that may plague you one day
Solid is your heart Sharp is its defense
Possessing blades sharp enough to cut down the brave
But, lax in thy defense today...
For a new defense is here to aid
I am not here to conquer
 I am here to claim,
To exchange fruits of love

To bring pleasure, not pain

I love this poem that my friend wrote! He's a great poet, don't you think? I hope you have enjoyed reading this as much as I have. :-D

Much Love,

What's up doc?

So it has definitely been ages since I made any posts on this blog. Sorry about that but life has surely taken its toll on my time. A little update on me, I am now doing a course called Introduction to Medical Practice 2 which takes me on the hospital wards doing rounds with my residents and consultants. So basically, I am actually looking in on patients and observing and doing some patient care basics and essentials, while the seniors do the major health care. Sounds exciting no? Well it is!!! :-D. And that's basically all that is new and important in my life right now.

The Great Acne Debate

Ugh acne! A teenager’s worst nightmare! And to make matters worse, it can continue way into adulthood! The fiend! how can you get rid of this facial invader you may ask? How can I get clear and beautiful skin like those that you see on television, in magazines or in the movies you may wonder? Well before you reach for any arbitrary acne medication you should probably take a look at this little tidbit to have an idea of what may work best for you.

There are literally hundreds and possibly thousands of acne remedies on the market, especially when it comes on to over the counter medications. Each has promises of success and each brand claiming to be better than the rest. However, did you that despite the relative brands that are being advertised, in most acne medications there are one of two major active ingredients Salicylic acid and Benzoyl peroxide? So what’s the difference between the two you may ask? They are both available in creams, gels and washes right? Well that’s exactly the question that initiated this investigation, so let us examine.

The major difference between two active agents is their mode of action. They work differently and target different components of acne. Salicylic acid, known to have fever relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, is a beta hydroxyl acid that is derived from the bark of the willow tree. It works by being an exfoliant and peeling agent, promoting the removal of dead skin cells, preventing the pores from clogging up and allowing room for new skill cell growth. The Salicylic acid penetrates the oil-filled pores and then exfoliates any dead skin cells that have built up inside. This helps reduce irritation and inflammation. It is best for comedonal acne (whiteheads and blackheads).

Any side effects? The most common side effect is dryness, though this is normally very mild. If the skin appears scaly however, you should apply a light oil-free moisturizer following the application of the product containing Salicylic acid. The skin can also become irritated for some who use products with this agent. If you experience some mild irritation after using Salicylic acid you should use the product less frequently. If the irritation is severe or continues even with infrequent use then you should stop using the product completely.

Benzoyl peroxide is an antibacterial and works to kill the bacteria on the skin causing the acne. It works as a peeling agent, thus increasing the skin’s turnover and clearing pores. The bacterial count found on the skin is lessened as well since this agent works to reduce P.Acnes (the bacteria that causes skin breakouts). Benzoyl peroxide also “dries up” existing skin blemishes. It is best for inflammatory acne (red bumps and pus bumps).

Any side effects? When using Benzoyl Peroxide you may experience some initial dryness and irritation. Normally, the skin will develop tolerance to the product after a week or two of use. If skin starts to feel too dry then you should cut back on your use o Benzoyl peroxide, as excessive drying can make acne worse. A small number of people may be more sensitive to this agent and can suffer from some burning, itching, peeling and even swelling after application. If this happens to you then stop use immediately. Also, when first starting out with Benzoyl peroxide, you should begin by using the product on alternating days so skin has time to adjust.

The Verdict

Overall, neither product is really better than the other; it mainly depends on the type of acne that you have, the type of cleanser you want to use and how your skin reacts to the cleanser. They are both effective in treating and controlling mild to moderate acne cases and both work as peeling agents with similar effects on the skin. The main difference is Benzoyl Peroxide works as an antiseptic and this property may make the peroxide more aggressive and harsher on the skin; whereas Salicylic acid works mainly by being an exfoliant, removing dead skin cells. However, if you have truly severe acne and neither of these work for you then you should consult a dermatologist about your problem.

Thank you for stopping by and reading. I hope you enjoyed it.

Brought to you with love,

Nella
