52 Week Financial Challenge

At the start of every new year we tend to make some major resolutions. Whether it is to tackle weight loss, be more financially independent, appreciate life more or just love family and friends as much as possible. Whatever it may be, the new year seems to give the air of renewal needed to get us started. This week I want to tackle some common resolutions. These are ones that even I myself make each year and call them goals rather than resolutions. The problem is however, that the high energy and anticipation that flows through our veins on day 1 slowly dwindles until what we are left with is a broken vow to ourselves and the same resolution to make the following year. But wouldn't it be great to finally accomplish one of these dreams? I think it would be amazing! So today's topic is about our finance resolutions.

In these trying economic times, it can be difficult for anyone to make ends meet. Bills piling up, debt mounting and savings are being depleted. You may feel like you're trapped in this rat race but you truly aren't. If you were to stop and examine your finances you would see that what you lack is discipline. You spend above your means, you buy unnecessary items and squander money on frivolties. Now don't get me wrong I am all for treating yourself but every once in a while. There is after all a time and place for everything. Now if you truly want to exercise some self control and get over one financial hurdle then try this 52 week challenge. This is something I originally saw on youtube on SparkWisdoms channel but I've ammended it to suit the average Jamaican. However, if you're an international reader you can convert this to a simple form of your currency eg $1 US or $1 pound or $20 TT whatever you think you can manage. The important thing is to not touch your money and see as it grows. I'll be doing a vlog on this challenge later on! Check out the sheet below and see how you can make it work for you!

Hey everyone!

So as I mentioned in my previous post, this month I'm taking the photo challenge. So day 1 is to take a picture of your favourite food. My favourite food is chicken so I took a picture of my dinner on 2 different days so you know I looooooooooove chicken! :D What's your favourite food? Tell me! Show me! I'd love to know!

Photo Challenge

One thing that I like about a new year is that it gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself and rise beyond your usual expectations and outcomes. However, I believe the reason that most people fail and relapse to their usual habits is that they try to take on too much too soon and don't realize that sometimes to achieve the best results slow and steady is the best way. And that is exactly what I plan to do.

This month I thought I'd try one of those photo challenges that I've often seen many of my friends doing on facebook. I would love it if you guys would join me in this. If you plan to do this, all you simply have to do is to take a picture everyday for the month of January based on what the photo says. The instructions are on the picture below. I hope you have fun!

Happy New Year!!!!!

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful and happy 2012. It's time to take on new challenges, accomplish new goals, have more laughs, give thanks for more days and believe that anything is truly possible. I hope that the Lord will bless and guide you all on your respective journeys as I am sure he will be with me on mine. I just want you all to remember these few little gems:

1) Wake up everyday giving thanks because somewhere out there someone else has lost that opportunity

2) Savor all the moments that you have with family and friends because you never know when you won't have another one of those moments

3) Believe in yourself because if you don't no one else will

4) Live like there's no tomorrow, love like it will last forever, sing like no one's listening, dance like no one's watching but most importantly laugh because a smile is too precious to waste

5) The past is gone and cannot be undone, the future is uncertain and plans change but you can control your present. Don't give anyone else that power over you

6) Keep the faith for the Lord knows what he's doing

7) Enjoy every meal because once you finish it is gone

8) Take care of your body, it is the only one you've got

9) Love yourself, love your body, love others! Just remember to LOVE!

10) Lastly, travel the world and learn about all of God's children. You may not be able to afford expensive trips but books, pictures, music, movies, people and art can do wonders in bridging the gap between worlds. I mean we are in the age of the world wide web.

Thank you all for joining me on this journey through my life. My interest varies but my love for you all remains constant. Have a wonderful day and rest of the year.

Much Love,

Nella

Simple Pleasures and Holiday Traffic

Sometimes all you need to remember how blessed you truly are is to enjoy a simple meal! I also added some photos I took while stuck in traffic on my way to Halfway Tree (one of Jamaica's biggest shopping areas). Trust me the traffic was BRUTAL!!!!! But I got through it and was happy that I got all my Christmas shopping done!!!

Much Love,

Nella
