Breaking Free

I’ve lived a thousand lies
Dreamed a million dreams

Imagined an era of fantasies
Yet none has come to be

Trapped within my own mind
I live
Captured in my own heart
I reside
I yearn for release
Yet fear the escape

‘Save me!’ I yell
To the shadow of my former self
‘Return to me!’ I plead
To the distant memory of me

But gone are the childhood days
Time to put away childish things
Locked in the treasure chest
Of my internal being

There are only two copies of the key
The key to unlock my defenses
The key to make my escape
The key to my true freedom

There are but two copies of the key
One belongs to me and the other to thee
But who is thee?
Who is thee to rescue me?

Lost at sea are thee?
A long distance from me
Who art thou strange traveller?
Why can’t I see?

So until I make my destined escape
My glorious trek to victory
The fortress remains my only sanctuary
The sole sanctity of my being

Until……….
I meet thee

Pick me up with that one!-Pick up lines for the ages!

‘Hey baby what’s cooking?’ ‘Baby if I could rearrange the alphabet I would put you and I together.’ ‘I’ve lost my phone number, can I have yours?’ Now what do all these little quotations have in common? They are pick up lines that’s what! So guess what the next little feature will be on? Dun dun dun……..Pick up lines!!! You are correct chip! Tell them what they’ve won!.........A barrel full of laughs and an interactive blog post. So here’s how it works. I’ll give you some pick up lines I’ve heard (and I’ve really heard these or had these happen to my friends) and you comment and add some you’ve heard. I’ll update the post as much as possible to add your pick up lines. Sounds cool? Good!!! Let’s hop to it.

1)      ‘Hey baby! Are you tired? Because you’ve been running through my mind all day long’

2)      ‘Did it hurt? Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?’

3)      ‘I’ve lost my teddy bear, can I cuddle with you?’

4)      ‘Can I borrow your cell phone? I think I need to call my mom and tell her I just found the man/woman of my dreams’

5)      ‘Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?’

6)      ‘Age is but a number. In a few years I’ll be……’

7)      ‘A bird cannot fly on one wing’ (response to ‘I’m in a relationship already’)

8)      ‘A she me a look a nuh her man mi a look’ (response to ‘she have a man already’)

(Note: The difference in responses based on how the ‘already taken’ news was given)

9)      ‘Dem girl yah smell good inno’ (This came from a man riding by on a bicycle to a group of young women walking on the road)

10)   ‘My name is…..but you can call me tonight!’

11)   ‘Honey you must be Jamaican cause Jamaican me crazy’

12)   ‘Baby, you must be a broom, cause you just swept me off my feet’

Dreams of a Geisha

My voice has always been my solace,
My writings a place of escape,
My readings an unprecedented adventure,
My pen my choice of weapon,
My mind my chosen defense.

My dreams can always come alive,
Through the visions of my mind,
Through the thoughts in my head,
Through the actions of my pen.

The adventures of my soul can be told,
Through the words that leave my lips,
Through the warm feelings in my heart,
Through the readings that I find bliss.

These my friends are my chosen weapons,
To write,
To read,
To speak,
To dream,
The freedoms of life that make you unique,
And nothing can make me give them up;
This is a part of the Geisha’s creed.

Unless Time Tells

by Dale Copeland on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 9:33pm

Living, not knowing what the future holds
It creeps nearer after every winter cold
...It never ends
Unlike life it lives and exist until eternity instead

Yes my dear the world is finite,
But time is immortal
For the will of God it lives on
It thrives and engulfs its days
Feeling the bliss of every minute
While mankind rushes most times
Notwithstanding time's gaze

Time's rage is worst of all
It terrifies the terrified
It dazzles even the already dazed
Dare not I beg thee my friends
Attempt to sneak from its gaze

Our days are numbered
And age dances with days
As the days dances with rain
For who knows when our love ones' eyelids pours down rain
Forming if not a storm, a flood
Only time tells all the tale

Ravage in the calm
Smile as the sun shines
Smile now for all to see
Yes...for all to catch the contagious smile
That will later be cured by the storm that will soon arrive

Sad is this tale I tell
But time mutters it well
So enjoy your days in 2011
For, no one knows...unless time tells.

Love Me by Anna Awsumm!

So I'm not the only talented one amongst my friends. I actually am surrounded by a talented group of ladies and gentlemen with musicians, artists, designers, writers, dancers, poets, athletes and the list goes on. And these are only their hobbies. So here I present to you one of the poems by one of my loves. Enjoy!!! (Remember comments and feedback is welcome).

Written June 2009

Love me she screams
Pick me she cries
When she picks up the pieces of each broken love
With her never doth his whole heart lie

In and out of love he weaves
She offers her shoulder when he cries
Never telling him truly what she feels
A love for him that's so surreal

He leaves.

To find love once more
And never knowing that behind her door
She pines for him she relishes the thought of the day
He'll come back to her, and this time to stay

But he comes and goes, He's in and out
Back to the world to seek what all men seek
The kind of love that never dies
The greatest of all loves that holds no lies

Once again he's back at her door
To look upon her friendly face
She mends his heart
She cries with him

Though the tears she shed are but her own
From a yearning heart he'll never own

Yet
The love he seeks he'll never know
Lies within that girl and upon that shoulder on which his tears flow

I think therefore I write

As writers we need to learn to trust our instincts and believe in our own judgments and choices for our work. Too often writers shy away from a challenge or choose the people-pleasing way of writing, rather than giving their true opinion. Writing from their true inspiration and just letting their creative juices flowing. We all face critics time and time again and sometimes the reviews may be harsh and other times it may be raving reviews. The important thing you should always remember is that you cannot please everyone. There is always going to be at least one person who has a problem with your work so the best thing you can do is to write. Write your best work. Write with the most heart. Let your muse guide you and let your creative juices flow. Get that flow of energy that gives you an adrenaline surge just run freely through you. And last but certainly not least, TRUST YOURSELF. Stop trying to please the whole world and start trying to please yourself. Take constructive criticism but keep the pierce to your persuasion. That’s my advice or at least what I try to live by as I write one day, or week, sometimes month or more at a time. So that is my motivation behind starting this section called, ‘Just didn’t make it’. These are some articles that I wrote that didn’t end up making it to print but I still think these were great articles that deserve to be shared with the world. (Note there are a few that DID make it to print but I still think they are pretty relevant despite how long ago they may have been printed. I will point those out when I put them up). Read, Comment and Enjoy! Thank you for reading! Have a beautiful day and trust in your abilities. Let your voice be heard. Toodles!!!!
